It is the mission of Downeast Adaptive Youth Recreation to create recreational teams and activities for children with disabilities. We want kids to experience unified sports, arts, music and theater-everything typical children have access to.

What began as a Special Olympics basketball team has grown into a leading resource for children with disabilities. At Downeast Adaptive Youth Recreation, our purpose is to increase awareness about adaptive and unified recreational activities that exist in the state of Maine, including athletic programs, theater camps and other enrichment opportunities.
We also hope to increase access for families in need. Through the donations of generous sponsors, we can offer scholarships and grants to fund fees, travel and additional expenses associated with these recreational activities.
